Lauren Meadows

Hometown:
Fishers, IN

Biography

An AP Scholar with Distinction and the first Wells Scholar from Fishers High School, Lauren graduated summa cum laude. During her senior year, she was a captain of the speech team, which won the state championship for the third year in a row. She was also parliamentarian of her school’s Model United Nations team and a member of her school’s state champion We the People team. At the national finals, the team placed sixth overall, with her unit placing second. She placed second in Indiana in Congressional Debate and qualified for the National Speech & Debate Tournament for the third time in her high school career. In summer 2015, Lauren was named the Outstanding Representative at Hoosier Girls State. She received awards as well for her musical abilities and was named the Fishers High School Performing Arts Outstanding Senior for her accomplishments in speech, band, and orchestra. During a family vacation to Washington, D.C., Lauren visited the U.S. House of Representatives, which solidified her decision to study politics and government; she plans to major in political science, history, and Spanish.

Her favorite quote comes from her favorite first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

She will hold the Robert E. Gates and the Sigma Nu Fraternity scholarships in the Wells Scholars Program.
