The Wells Scholars Program guarantees the full cost of attendance for a period of eight semesters of undergraduate study at Indiana University Bloomington. The award includes fall and spring tuition and mandatory and course-related fees for a standard course load of 12-18 credits, as well as a living stipend during the fall and spring sufficient to cover the cost of a standard double dorm room contract and a standard meal plan in the residence halls. Students receive the same stipend whether they choose to live on or off campus. It is possible to combine other campus awards with the Wells Scholars Program; however, a student's total award package cannot exceed the official cost of attendance at IU. WSP and Office of Student Financial Assistance staff work together to assist each student with their individual award package.
Wells Scholars may pursue any course of study that leads to a bachelor's degree offered by IUB. Each Scholar works with a Hutton Honors College advisor and an additional advisor in their major field area(s) to design a course of study that takes into consideration the student's interests, goals, and strengths.
Freshman Scholars enroll in a program-specific seminar in fall and in spring. During the year, Scholars develop intellectual and personal bonds with their classmates while they read major works and discuss challenging ideas. Senior Scholars also have the option to take a spring seminar to wrap up their time in the program and at IU.
