  • Simon Cian

Simon Cian

Man with medium length dark hair wearing a striped light blue and white collared shirt smiling against a background of greenery
Pronouns:
He/Him

Simon is from Nashville, Tennessee, and will major in International Relations at IU. He chose IU for the beautiful campus and the nice people. One of his heroes is soccer player Lionel Messi (“because he is the GOAT”), and the books he cherishes include Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man as well as the science fiction/fantasy novels Dune by Frank Herbert and Consider Phlebas by Iain Banks. In addition, he keeps returning to J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Simon would like to thank Coach Killian, his swim coach, for supporting him for the past four years. One of the most impactful events in his life was his parents’ divorce, which taught him resilience and the need to open up to others. Simon dreams of studying abroad in Barcelona, which he visited as part of an exchange program last year. His most important value is kindness. Simon will hold the Paul J. Devault Scholarship.
