Jake Stevenson

Hometown:
Zionsville, IN

Jake (he/him) will major in political science. What attracted him to IU was the diverse and extensive range of courses it offers, especially in the O’Neill School, as well as the closely knit community of Wells Scholars he will be joining. Inspired by Albert Camus’ philosophy, he reads widely, mentioning books like Eitan Hersh’s Politics Is For Power, Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried, and Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist as his favorites. Jake would like to study in Brussels, where he believes he will get some first-hand experience of the workings of the EU. Among his most cherished memories is riding the Orion rollercoaster at Kings Island at 91 miles an hour while getting pelted with raindrops. Jake, who prizes empathy above everything else, would like to thank his family, friends, and teachers, especially Ms. Shaker, for their consistent support, and the Wells Scholars Program for offering him this opportunity. In the Wells Scholars Program, he will hold the Crane and Wittman Family scholarships.
