Courage (they/he) will be majoring in composition and historical performance voice. They also look forward to taking contemporary dance classes at IU. Managing life with a neurological disability has been their proudest achievement. They name Frank Zappa and Meredith Monk as the artists who have influenced them the most and lists Rita Mae Brown's Rubyfruit Jungle, James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room, and Alice Walker's The Color Purple as books that have deeply influenced them. Their preferred study abroad destinations are Armenia and Uzbekistan, countries that fascinate them because of their rich culture, history, and geography. They would like to thank their parents and their brothers for embracing and supporting them and their teacher Joyce Click for instilling in them an enthusiasm for early music. Courage will hold the E. Reese scholarship in the Wells Scholars Program.
