Biography
Cooper plans to major in environmental and sustainability studies as well as enjoy interdisciplinary classes through both the College of Arts and Sciences and the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. The first Scholar from Athens Drive Magnet High School, Cooper looks forward to learning about how to fuse the many facets of sustainability into daily life from both a scientific and advocacy perspective, and also attending basketball games at Assembly Hall and concerts and productions at the Jacobs School of Music. He is thrilled that IU offers such a high-end experience in coursework as well as excellent athletic and music programs. Having performed some of David Maslanka’s works in high school, Cooper wishes he could have met the recently deceased American composer to talk about who and what inspired his oeuvre. Cooper’s proudest personal achievement is his 2017 Apex Outreach Service Project Foosball Tournament Championship; his team was the youngest group that ever won in the tournament’s history. He would like to thank his family and friends for believing that he possesses a mind capable of wonderful things and for supporting his academic efforts, and he’d especially like to thank his cats for keeping his life vibrant! Cooper will hold the Erik & Ann Munter scholarship.
