Biography
Savannah, the first Scholar from Bullitt Central High School, plans to major in history and earn certificates in political & civil engagement and medieval studies, though she is open to exploring other courses of study during her time at IU. She knew this university was the place for her the second she learned about the active Squirrel Club, and she’s also excited to explore interdisciplinary classes with involved and supportive faculty members and to join a robust intellectual community made up of fascinating people. Savannah includes Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston, and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo among her favorite books, and is very proud of her Redbubble artist shop where she’s sold thousands of products across 20 countries - including some to her favorite authors! Savannah is known for her trademark daily outfit of high-waisted jeans paired with a rotation of intentionally odd T-shirts, and also for her love of baking breadsticks. She’s still figuring out how she’ll accomplish the latter in a dorm kitchen. Savannah would like to thank her teachers, her family, and her cat Aggie for their critical role in making her the person that she is today. She will hold the Jenny Hutton Jacoby scholarship.
