Neil Shah

Hometown:
Carmel, IN

Biography

A National Merit Scholar and a National AP Scholar, Neil was designated a Distinguished Graduate with Academic Honors by Carmel High School, where he received the Hinshaw Community Service Award and the Greyhound Booster Club Scholarship for Athletics. Active in both local and student government, he served as the president of the Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council and as a member of the school senate. Intrigued from childhood on by business and the stock market, he was an officer in the school’s chapter of DECA, an association for marketing students, and placed second in Marketing Management at the DECA state career and development conference. His team placed eighth in the nation in the Capitol Hill Stock Market Challenge. A summer internship in India with a textile export company opened his eyes to world markets and stoked his interest in studying entrepreneurship and corporate innovation, international business, and possibly economics and math. He represented his school on the varsity tennis team, was president of the Ping Pong Club, and received the Silver Key Award from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program for a graphite drawing. He also received scholarships from the Indiana CPA Society and the Asian American Alliance.

A quote from Kung Fu Panda – “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. And that is why it is called the present”—reminds him that each moment is a new opportunity.

He will hold the Edward L. Hutton Scholarship in the Wells Scholars Program.
