Lucy plans to study Ballet and Psychology. She draws inspiration from the performances she watches, the books she reads, and the music she listens to, particularly admiring the courage of artists who share their innermost selves with the world.
Her favorite author is Joan Didion, whose beautiful prose captures universally human experiences. A quote that resonates deeply with her is from Mary Oliver’s poem, “When Death Comes”: “I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.” This quote inspires her to make a meaningful impact rather than merely observe life.
Lucy values empathy above all, believing in the importance of understanding others to shape one’s perspective. The best advice she has received is, “There is no time to waste when it comes to following your passion,” which motivated her to pursue her interests wholeheartedly without delay.
Her happy place is within the pages of a good book, where she can escape to different worlds through the power of language. Ballet has been a significant part of her life since she started at the age of three, teaching her to channel her energy into a disciplined art form. Her passion for dance grows as she evolves as a dancer and a person. Lucy will hold the Brad Stansberry Scholarship and the Peggy Newton Stevenson Scholarship
