Ella is from Tennessee and plans to major in both American Studies and Journalism. She is inspired by Neil Gaiman’s quote from Good Omens about understanding human complexity, which guides her approach to communication and journalism: “It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.” The best advice she has received, “Happiness is a journey, not a destination,” reminds her to embrace happiness in everyday life.
Ella values authenticity, believing that living sincerely and building true connections are essential for personal and communal betterment. A lifelong violinist, Ella has participated in orchestras for as long as she can remember, making classical music an integral part of her identity. Ella will hold the Lynda Glick Schwartz Scholarship.
