Pronouns:
She/Her

Julia Pfeiffer is from Weldon Spring, Missouri, and will major in psychology. She selected IU because of the opportunities it offers to expand her academic interests: “I look forward to being a part of communities such as Wells and Collins, as well as taking advantage of IU’s study abroad and undergraduate research programs.” She hopes to study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country. Her go-to books are The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. One of her beloved maxims comes from Good Omens: “It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.”Julia is enthusiastic about understanding other people because that quality is essential for individual and collective growth. “Being autistic, I believe fostering such a passion could ameliorate many of the rifts between neurotypical and neurodivergent people.” She would like to thank Mr. Aaron Pearson, her middle school teacher, for showing her that her perspective has value and for inspiring her to pursue her path. “I am also extremely grateful for my parents, including my stepdad and stepmom, for being supportive throughout my life and encouraging me to grow and elevate myself.”Julia will hold the James S. Mentzer Scholarship.
