  • Yahya Amjad

Yahya Amjad

Hometown:
Indianapolis, IN

Yahya (he/him) will major in biology, with a possible minor in computer science. Yahya also looks forward to studying abroad, preferably in Japan, whose rich culture, history, and cuisine he admires. What attracted him to IU, apart from the manifold academic opportunities, was the diversity of the student body and the vibrant basketball culture. If he could choose a dinner companion, it would be the legendary hip-hop producer Nujabes, about whose creative process he is very curious. Yahya’s favorite quote is by Conan O’Brien: “It is not easy, but if you accept your misfortune, and handle it right, your perceived failure can become a catalyst for profound reinvention.” Yahya would like to thank his parents for their love, support, and the sacrifices they have made so that he can pursue his dreams. Yahya will hold the Roy G. and Fern B. Tobias scholarship in the Wells Scholars Program.
