Anastasia Spahr

Portrait of Anastasia Spahr
Major:
Peru, IN

Anastasia (she/her), the second Scholar from Maconaquah High School, is most looking forward to learning more about topics that fascinate her, discovering new interests, making new friends and connections, and studying abroad. She picked IU due to its abundant opportunities in all these areas as well as its beautiful campus. English is the first of her planned majors, and her favorite books are These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Given the choice to meet anyone from history, she’d choose Canadian author and “kindred spirit” Lucy Maud Montgomery to have interesting conversations about their shared passion for writing. Anastasia will also study psychology and French, and she hopes to do an overseas study program in France including a return to Paris, inspired by an exchange trip she took to the country during high school. She is most proud of placing first in the State Academic Super Bowl Competition for Fine Arts three times, and she has played piano since the first grade. She will hold the Roger Chrastil and William Wolfe scholarships.
