Aaron (he/him), the first Scholar from AC Reynolds High School, came to IU to study clarinet performance in the renowned Jacobs School of Music with Professor Eli Eban. He looks forward to focusing on his music studies, balanced with learning more about the unique topics offered through WSP seminars. He is most proud of winning “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band 2020 Concerto Competition, although he is happiest performing chamber music with a small group of colleagues. Aaron would love to travel to Spain to sample the incredible food and explore the layered culture spanning multiple groups of people and thousands of years of history. Less realistically, he’d also like to visit Egypt at the time of the pyramids’ construction to officially uncover their engineering secrets. Aaron’s hidden talent is his skill at basketball, and his favorite dish to make is New York style pizza with his dad. His favorite books are Barack Obama’s A Promised Land, Robin Moore’s The French Connection, and Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy. Aaron would like to thank his parents for consistently supporting him and making sacrifices so he could achieve his own goals. He will hold the James & Virginia Cozad and the Ellsworth & Louise Schan scholarships.
