Ana (she/her), who plans to major in English, chose IU for its incredible professors, strong programs in her interest areas, wealth of resources, and support available for her to achieve success. Her current favorite books are Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow, Utopia by Thomas More, and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. She also recommends Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, as well as Howl’s Moving Castle – both the original book by Diana Wynne Jones and the movie adaptation by Studio Ghibli! Given the ability to have dinner with anyone from history, she’d pick the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to discuss their shared passion for expanding female rights and agency. Ana enjoys spending time in nature, playing with her dog, and baking and sharing cupcakes (her tried-and-true method of making new friends!). Ana would like to thank Ms. Bradshaw, her high school IB coordinator and composition and theory of knowledge teacher, for leading the class discussions that shaped the way she thinks and helped her grow intellectually over the past four years. She is the fifth student from Cathedral High School and will hold one of the Robert & Margaret Sutter scholarships.
