Evan (he/him) is the first Scholar from Pine-Richland High School and plans to major in computer science. IU’s great programs, beautiful campus, and many opportunities for branching out and exploring different areas are what originally drew Evan to the university, and he looks forward to meeting lots of people with diverse backgrounds and interests, learning from these experiences, and becoming a more versatile person. Evan dreams of visiting Germany to reconnect with family as well as explore historic locations and better understand the country’s status as a major player in the global community with strong economic and technological influence. He also hopes to travel and explore other locations around the world, especially beautiful natural areas. Closer to home, he enjoys taking in the views while hiking in McConnells Mill State Park near Pittsburgh and baking chocolate chip cookies. His favorite movie is Pixar’s The Incredibles, and his favorite books are 1984 by George Orwell, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Evan’s not-so-secret talent is playing guitar and saxophone, and he enjoys performing with friends. Evan would like to thank his family for supporting and encouraging him. He will hold the Cummins Engine Co. and Alice Glick Meshbane scholarships.
