Grant Newman is a rising senior, majoring in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Spanish. He draws daily inspiration from his family, especially his young nephew. His favorite books include Alex Trebek’s autobiography The Answer Is... and Claire Saffitz’s cookbook Dessert Person.
Grant’s favorite quote, “You must have the courage of your own convictions,” highlights the importance of acting confidently according to one’s values. In his personal hierarchy of values, trustworthiness stands out, as it fosters lifelong friendships.
Passionate about cooking, Grant’s interest began with the example of his grandmother, a dedicated home cook, who taught him the joys of creating new dishes. Her inspiration continues to fuel his love of culinary exploration and learning. Grant will hold the Blaine Wiseman Scholarship and the Indiana Bell Telephone Scholarship.
