Emma Uber

Emma Uber
Hometown:
Carmel, IN

Biography

Emma finds journalism to be the perfect blend of connecting with others, listening to their stories, and helping them meet their needs, all while employing her passion for writing to build ties with people from all corners of the world. Unsurprisingly, she has chosen to major in journalism with a minor in Spanish, and a possible second major in international studies. She currently works as a professional reporter for Current in Carmel, her local newspaper, where she is proud to foster relationships in her own community and use her love of language to better the lives of her neighbors in impactful ways by voicing their stories. Once at IU, she plans to dive into every extracurricular activity available, from the Indiana Daily Student newspaper to Greek life, and from IU Dance Marathon to intramural sports. She would like to thank her family for their tireless work to ensure she had every opportunity to be successful in anything she did; for their unconditional love and support in reminding her that her worth extends far beyond grades, work ethic, or resume; and for raising her to be compassionate and kind above all else. Emma is the seventeenth Scholar from Carmel High School and will hold the Aamir & Amy Malik scholarship.
