Biography

Ethan chose IU and the Wells Scholars Program for their offer of a cosmopolitan education, both in opportunities to travel abroad and in the variety of topics and fields of study offered. His goal is to attend medical school after earning degrees in neuroscience and business, and he is excited by the flexibility IU offers to fill his undergraduate experience with exploration, enjoyment, and the unknown along the way. He looks forward to traveling to a place where he can see the northern lights, but for now he is content relishing daily life on the family farm where there is never a shortage of work to do or things to see and no two experiences are ever exactly the same. His proudest accomplishments are founding the Children’s Crusade to End Homelessness, an organization that supports individuals experiencing homelessness who might not be able to make it into a shelter; working with the American Legion through Hoosier Boys State; and subsequently being elected governor at Boys Nation. Ethan wishes to thank his parents and grandparents for being the most organized, motivated, hardworking, caring, and encouraging individuals he knows: they will always opt to help others before themselves. He is the second Scholar from Heritage Hills High School and will hold the Larry Paul Kays and Glaubinger scholarships.
