Adebowale "Ade" Adelekan

Ade Adelekan
Hometown:
Indianapolis, IN

Biography

Ade joins the Wells Scholars Program as the third Scholar from Arsenal Technical High School. He is very much looking forward to majoring in computer science, bowling at the IMU’s Back Alley, and meeting lots of new people who share his interests. He chose IU because, despite its history as a predominantly white institution, they are actively taking steps to make their community more inclusive. Given the ability to travel to any time and place in history, Ade would choose to participate in the 1963 March on Washington to take part in the landmark event of the civil rights movement. His favorite three books are Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and The Serpent King by Jeff Zenter, though he also enjoys Roald Dahl and wishes he could visit Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! Ade is most proud of being inducted into the Indianapolis Kiwanis Circle of Valor, an award celebrating victory over adversities for select Marion County graduating seniors. He would like to thank his family, his teachers, his counselor, and God. Ade will hold the Alice Adele Freese scholarship.
