Biography
Kathryn fell in love with IU from the moment she first set foot on campus and can’t wait to join the diverse and open-minded community and become part of something bigger than herself. After spending a summer in France with the Honors Program in Foreign Languages, she knew IU was the place for her due to its excellence in foreign language instruction and the caring and engaging faculty. She will continue to foster her love of language and global outreach with majors in French, Spanish, and Arabic, and as many overseas studies programs as she can fit into her schedule. She is particularly excited about the informal, natural lessons that arise through day-to-day interactions in foreign cultures and would love to pursue a career that uses language to connect and help people with the goal of fighting negative stereotypes associated with language and culture. Kathryn is an avid coffee drinker (preferably a dark roast with a Biscoff cookie for dunking) and spends her spare time creating multimedia non-objective art pieces using paint, crayon, marker, pencil, and oil pastel. Kathryn would like to thank her parents, teachers, and family for their kindness, compassion, and patience, and for serving as a phenomenal support system that has made all the difference in her life. She is the fourth Scholar from Westfield High School and will hold the Paul J. Devault scholarship.
