Tyler Hayik

Eilaboun, Israel

Biography

As the other member of our first duo of international students and first Scholar ever from Galilee Christian High School, Tyler will join the intelligent systems engineering program in IU’s School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. His specific area of interest is Artificial Intelligence, and he has lofty aspirations of creating the first real AI robot that can fully think and feel for itself. He has been interested in this field for a long time and even taught himself to code at a young age, just because he wanted to build his own game. Tyler’s other interests include more traditionally creative endeavors, such as making pancakes and writing his own novels and screenplays. His current favorite titles include books like Death by Black Hole (Neil deGrasse Tyson), Command and Control (Eric Schlosser), Zero to One (Peter Thiel), and the movie Interstellar. Tyler fondly remembers IU’s beauty and amazing people from his childhood, when his mother was studying for her own PhD here, and he is looking forward to his own time on campus furthering his studies while interacting with like-minded people. His signature snack is cucumbers with Nutella. Tyler would like to thank his parents and his brother for always being at his side and helping him when he couldn’t help himself. He will hold the David Hervey Maxwell scholarship.
