Ritika has known that she wanted to be a doctor at least since she was 10 years old. She will major in molecular life sciences and has already done her research about IU’s captivating course offerings: she can’t wait to delve into classes with a specific focus like “Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer.” She fell in love with IU’s gorgeous campus in sixth grade and has now also come to appreciate how this large institution has offerings for everyone, no matter their interests, passions, and goals. She is the third Scholar from Fishers High School. Ritika very much admires Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her perseverance in the face of all the difficulties she has encountered in life and for her dedication to the causes she feels passionate about. Not surprisingly, Ritika would love to meet the inspiring Justice in person one day. Her favorite books include The Other Wes Moore (Wes Moore), Cosmos (Carl Sagan), and the Harry Potter series (J. K. Rowling) – if it were possible, she’d go to Hogwarts! She also enjoys watching Kabhi Kushi Kabi Gham, a Bollywood movie, with her mother. Ritika would like to thank her parents for all their hard work, guidance, and the sacrifices that stand behind her own accomplishments. She will hold the Edmund Schroer scholarship.
