Biography
As one of our first international Scholars and the first Scholar ever from The Koc School, Kuzey is thrilled to come to IU to make new friends and meet nice people. He looks forward to exploring the wonderful campus and to receiving a great education in a learning environment suitable for those who, like him, want to pursue academic research at the highest level. He is proud to have earned this scholarship to IU and will begin studies in physics through the College of Arts & Sciences. Outside of academia, his talents lie in baking chocolate chip cookies and working as a car mechanic. One day he’d love to own a 1969 Ford Mustang! Kuzey is an avid J. R. R. Tolkien fan and names The Fellowship of the Ring as one of his favorite books along with Oblomov by Ivan Goncharov and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. He wishes it were possible to travel to the mines of Moria in Middle-earth, but he’ll settle instead for a chance to explore Latin America and especially the lovely countryside of Argentina. Kuzey would like to thank his mother for her patience and his father for the sage advice: “Don’t regret the things you haven’t done – instead, next time, do it.” He will hold the Robert and Bert Irie scholarship.
