Tyler Zhang

Hometown:
Fishers, Indiana

Biography

Tyler was once advised that “luck is what happens when a prepared mind meets opportunity. So go create your own luck, and jump on any opportunities that come your way.” As a result, he continually strives to try things outside of his comfort zone, most recently by overcoming public speaking difficulties and both giving a speech at his high school graduation and performing stand-up comedy at a talent show. Tyler is the fifth Scholar from Hamilton Southeastern High School and will join IU’s new intelligent systems engineering program – not a surprise, given that his childhood dream was to design new Lego sets! Though he’s not much of a chef, he could fool anyone with his delicious recipe for garlic cheese bread. Given the chance to have dinner with any person from all of history, he’d choose his brother Tom, with whom he doesn’t get to catch up very often.

Tyler will hold the Alice Glick Meshbane scholarship.
