Biography
Abby’s uncle has always coached her to “embrace the terrifying joy of unbearable responsibility,” which she exemplifies as she takes the leap as only the second Scholar to join the Wells Scholars Program from Martinsville High School. She views IU as a gateway to the rest of the world, and is most looking forward to learning new things, meeting diverse and passionate people, and sampling good food both on and off campus! Abby will major in biology and will also study Spanish, inspired by time spent abroad in Spain. To further her Spanish comprehension, she often binge-watches El Internado Laguna Negra, a Spanish TV show about teenagers at a mysterious boarding school. She is easily spotted by her penchant for wearing fabulous scarves and her uncanny ability to whistle and hum at the same time. Abby would like to thank her amazing parents and sisters who have supported her unconditionally, her brilliant teachers for giving her the resources to thrive, and her wonderful friends for always making her laugh.
Abby will hold the Jerry Yeagley scholarship.
