Mackenzie Jerrold is majoring in Neuroscience and Community Health, with academic interests in neurodiversity, health equity, and research communication. She is especially proud of her published paper on shifting the social and medical models of autism, which not only strengthened her interest in neuroscience and advocacy but also shaped her perspective on inclusion in healthcare.
Mackenzie is motivated by her younger brother’s entrepreneurial mindset and balanced approach to life, which she credits with helping her maintain a thoughtful perspective on work and well-being. She also draws on her background in dance as a creative outlet, appreciating its ability to convey meaning beyond language and build shared understanding. She identifies empathy as her most important value and sees it as essential to meaningful social connections and public service. Mackenzie’s academic goals are informed by a desire to connect research with advocacy and to make a tangible impact in her community.
Mackenzie will hold the Hutton-Heim Scholarship and the Edward L. Hutton Scholarship Fund Scholarship.
