Elizabeth Schuth

Pronouns:
She/Her

Elizabeth Schuth is double majoring in Journalism and International Studies, with interests in cross-cultural connection and long-form storytelling. She helped launch a bilingual conversation club in her community, designed to bring together English and Spanish learners for mutual language practice and cultural exchange.

Among her favorite books are The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and Being Mortal by Atul Gawande. She values each of these works for their insight into generational history, the structure of memory, and ethical dimensions of modern life.

Elizabeth’s interest in languages began reluctantly but grew into a meaningful pursuit as she discovered the depth of relationships made possible by shared linguistic understanding. She is also committed to maintaining friendships across distance and values the time and care required to stay connected.

Her “happy place” is Campo San Francisco in Oviedo, Spain, where she spent time during a study abroad program. For her, parks with old trees and quiet spaces offer a sense of peace and continuity, wherever in the world she may be.

Elizabeth will hold the Robert L. and Margaret Gary Sutter Scholarship and the Blaine Wiseman Scholarship.
