Jessica chose IU for its inclusive campus and its wide array of unique academic programs, and she can’t wait to start making new friends. She is also looking forward to studying abroad, in Spain or another Spanish-speaking country, in order to explore the vibrant culture, sample the delicious food, and practice the beautiful language. Jessica will major in neuroscience and is interested in promoting mental illness awareness through her work with the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. One day, she hopes to retire to South America and open a free medical clinic where she can use her both her Spanish language and medical skills to help others. She joins the Program as the second-ever Wells Scholar from Brownsburg High School. Jessica would like to thank her band teacher, Mr. Runyon, for encouraging her in both musical and academic endeavors and for making her into a stronger leader. Thanks to his guidance, she conducted her school’s marching band in Lucas Oil Stadium in front of thousands of spectators – one of her proudest moments to date. Jessica will hold the Glaubinger scholarship.
