Alex can’t wait to start international studies classes in IU’s beautiful new School of Global and International Studies building, and he is looking forward to partnering with the dedicated faculty and staff who care about his future and will assist him to reach his personal goals. He is well on the way towards his career goal of becoming an international diplomat: he has already studied enough French to yearn to visit the Seychelles, and he has mastered Spanish so that he can have conversations with his abuelo. He wishes it were possible to visit the Library at Alexandria during its heyday, in order to gain insight into ancient civilizations and how they conceptualized their environment. Alex’s current favorite books include Undoing Gender by Judith Butler, Capital by Karl Marx, and Black Holes and Time Warps by Kip S. Thorne, and he often finds himself re-watching Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove. His standard meal order is a steak burrito, and his hidden talent is consuming it in under one minute! In his own words, Alex is grateful to more people than he could possible name. Along with Andrew Stewart, Alex is one of the first two Wells Scholars from Marcus High School and will hold the Grace/Hutton and Hutton Scholarship Fund scholarships.
